Practice Visits

Visits to the following practices are organized for May 10, Friday. The groups will be organized at the conference venue in the presence of a member from the health center who will guide the departure from the conference venue. Space is limited, registration is free and only available online through the conference registration on a first-come, first-served basis. Transportation will be provided by metro (tickets not included). Tickets can be purchased at any metro station. Information about Porto's metro system can be found on https://en.metrodoporto.pt/pages/397.

A. Unidade de Saúde Familiar de Cedofeita – Unidade Local de Saúde Santo António
Rua da Boavista 627, 4050-110 Porto

  • This practice is located 25 minutes away by metro from the venue. You will be accompanied to and from the practice.
  • The practice comprises 10 GPs, 3 trainees, 10 nurses, 6 administrative staff and 1 operational staff.  The unit also receives medical students and first-year general residents. 
  • The patient population is multicultural with different levels of education and incomes. Is particularly a population from the city center. In addition to its regular patients, the unit accommodates sporadic patients who do not have an assigned GP, mainly immigrants without a definitive national health number.
  • You will be accompanied from the practice to the venue, or you can take the opportunity to visit Porto City center, just a 5-minute walk from the health unit.

B. Unidade de Saúde Familiar do Covelo – Unidade Local de Saúde de São João
Rua de Faria Guimarães 951, 4200, Porto

  • This practice is located on a 25-minutes walking distance of the venue. You will be accompanied to and back from the practice.
  • This is a multidisciplinary practice with 8 GPs, 7 trainees, 8 nurses, 5 administrative staff and 2 operational staff. The unit also receives medical students and first-year general residents. 
  • The patient population is multicultural, a mixture of highly educated and finantially stable population, and a low-education and low-income, particularly from the city western and center.
  • In addition to its regular patients, the unit accommodates sporadic patients who do not have an assigned GP, mainly immigrants without a definitive national health number and erasmus' students.
  • You will be accompanied from the practice to the venue.

C. Unidade de Saúde Familiar Horizonte – Unidade Local de Saúde de Matosinhos

  • This practice is acessible by a 40-minute bus or metro ride from the venue. This is a multidisciplinary practice with 9 GPs, 7 trainees, 7 nurses, 6 administrative staff and 3 operational staff. 
  • This practice is situated in Matosinhos, a city adjacent to Porto, and has worked within a system of close interligation with secondary care for the past 20 years. The unit serves a mixture of highly educated and finantially stable population, and a low-education, low-income, elderly community of fishermen and fish sellers. 
  • You can be accompanied to and back from the practice, or you can choose to take the opportunity and visit Matosinhos Beach, enjoying the sunset in a bar, with a 20-minute walk or a 10-minute bus ride from the health unit.
