Coming to Verona

Verona is a well-connected city, offering multiple transport options for both locals and tourists. Whether you're traveling by train, car, or public transport, it's fairly easy to navigate the city and explore its many attractions.

By Air

Verona's main airport Verona Villafranca Airport (Valerio Catullo Airport) is located about 10 km (6 miles) from the city center. It serves both domestic and international flights, especially to and from major European cities.

Public transport from the airport:

  • Aerobus: The shuttle bus connects the airport to the city center in about 15- 20 minutes. Buses run every 20 minutes and are a convenient option for travelers.
  • Taxis: Taxis are available at the airport 24/7 and can take you directly to your accommodation or to the city center.

Verona is also within easy reach of other major airports, including Venice Marco Polo, Bergamo Orio al Serio, and Milan (Linate/Malpensa), all connected to Verona by frequent train services.

By Train

Verona's main train station Verona Porta Nuova is well-connected to the rest of Italy and beyond. It is a major hub for both regional and high-speed trains (Frecciarossa, Italo, etc.), making it easy to reach Verona from cities like Milan, Venice, Florence, and Rome. The train station is about 2-3 km (1.5 miles) from the city center, and you can easily take a bus, taxi, or walk there (15–20 minutes).

By Car

Verona lies at the crossroads of two major motorways A4 (Milano–Venezia) and A22 (Modena–Brennero). These routes connect Verona directly with many Italian and European cities, making car travel fast and efficient.

While Verona is generally walkable, you can rent a car if you plan to explore the wider region of Veneto or surrounding areas (like Lake Garda, which is about 30 km away). However, traffic in the city center can be congested, and parking is limited, especially near tourist attractions.

ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone): Like many Italian cities, Verona has a ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato), a restricted area where only residents or authorized vehicles are allowed. Make sure to park in the designated areas to avoid fines.

There are several parking garages around the city, including near Piazza Bra and Piazza del Popolo. If you stay outside the ZTL zone, you may find street parking in nearby areas.
