Coming to Plovdiv

Plovdiv is easily accessible from across Europe and Bulgaria, offering a range of convenient and budget-friendly travel options.

By Plane

The nearest major international airport is Sofia Airport (Vasil Levski), located approximately 90 minutes from Plovdiv by car or bus. It serves numerous destinations across Europe and beyond, including many low-cost carriers.

Plovdiv International Airport offers limited charter and seasonal flights, primarily from destinations in the UK and Germany.

Private airport transfers and taxi services are widely available from Sofia to Plovdiv. One of the providers Taxi1 has agreed to provide transfer services to and from Sofia airport upon request. During registration you may indicate that you are interested. The company will contact you for further arrangements and will help match you with other riders to share the transfer fees.

By Train

Plovdiv’s central railway station is just a 10–15-minute walk from the city centre. There are approximately 15 daily trains connecting Plovdiv and Sofia, with comfortable and scenic routes.

By Car

Plovdiv is directly connected to Sofia and other major cities via the A1 expressway (Trakia Motorway), making car travel fast and efficient. Car rental is a convenient option, with services available at both Sofia and Plovdiv airports as well as in the city centers.

By Bus

The city has three main bus stations offering regular services to and from all major Bulgarian cities, as well as selected international destinations. Buses are frequent, reliable, and affordable.
